- AIGA 代表什么?

- What does AIGA stand for?
AIGA is the professional association for design in the US. AIGA’s mission is to advance designing as a professional craft, strategic tool and vital cultural force. The association is committed to stimulating thinking about design through conferences, competitions, exhibitions, publications and websites. AIGA inspires, educates and informs designers, helping them to realize their talents and to advocate the value of design among the media, the business community, public agencies and the general public. When AIGA began almost one hundred years ago, the initials stood for the American Institute of Graphic Arts. In the 21st century, AIGA’s mission has broadened to reach a larger community of visual communication designers: identity designers, environmental designers, information designers, editorial designers, package designers, motion-graphics designers, interaction designers. - What does AIGA China do?
AIGA China seeks to provide a platform for communication among institutions that teach design throughout China and the USA, and to support design programs in China that respond to the country’s increasingly strong position in the world. AIGA China will help make AIGA’s extensive resources available to Chinese students, design educators and designers through a variety of channels.
- Can I become a member of AIGA or AIGA China?
AIGA China is not a membership organization. All Chinese designers (students, educators and professionals) can take advantage of AIGA China’s programs. AIGA’s initiatives, including AIGA China, are supported by membership fees. AIGA membership is open to any designer of any nationality by paying the annual fee. See more information at this page. Corporate sponsorship is essential to furthering AIGA’s role and ability to develop programs in China. To discuss sponsorship opportunities, please email us.

- How can I get involved in AIGA China's activities?
We welcome the participation of the Chinese design community in AIGA China’s increasing array of activities! Keep tabs on this website to stay up-to-date on the latest news and programs. And feel free to provide comments or make suggestions! Moreover, we are always looking for translators (English into Chinese), and the submission of original articles for this website.
- Can I have access to US design curricula?
AIGA is active in stimulating discussion among design educators in the US. Although there is no single source for acquiring American design curricula, there may be discussions on curricula and other themes of interest to Chinese design educators on this page. AIGA China Design Bridge can also provide unique opportunities for cultural and curricular exchange to Chinese institutions seeking inspiration on American design pedagogy. More info [here].
- How can AIGA China help my university arrange a relationship with a design institution in the US?
Over the summer of 2008 we will be developing AIGA China Design Bridge. This initiative has been envisioned to facilitate reciprocal relationships between Chinese institutions and American designers or institutions. It is intended that the relationship is equally beneficial, and that visits will happen in both directions. See more information about Design Bridge.
- Can I get copies of AIGA’s Design Business and Ethics and Standards of Professional Practice in Chinese?
We can arrange to send the print version of the Chinese edition of Design Business and Ethics for a small handling fee. The digital version (Chinese edition) is also available as a free PDF download. For the original English version, please see this page.
“Standards of Professional Practice” can be found in the first chapter of Design Business and Ethics.
- Does AIGA China run training/educational programs?
We hope to have the resources for such programs in the future. If you have recommendations on which types of programs would be most useful, we’d love to hear about it!
- How can I take part in AIGA’s design competitions?
Chinese designers can benefit from AIGA’s annual competitions in two ways. They can view recent and past selections at this page and this page and also can enter design work in AIGA’s annual competitions (no membership required). The next deadline is March 6, 2009. Work in all media that has been designed, produced and used in the marketplace between January 1 and December 31, 2008 is eligible. School projects are not eligible. For more information, see AIGA's competitions page.
